Welcome to the Blogosphere

Greetings ENG103
For some of you this will be your first foray into the blogosphere — which refers to the world of blogging. Blogging is a relatively new form of social networking – the term “blogging” in fact, comes from the expression “web log” – where people started to write and publish a daily log of their thoughts, ideas, or reactions to current events, experiences, or issues. Now it has quickly become of one the major ways of publicly sharing opinions or positions on things happening around and to us. It is predicted to be the demise of the magazines and perhaps newspapers as we know it — though both already have incorporated blogs into their on-line formats -- just look at New York Times for example.

I envision your blogs as journals to reflect on and discuss the class experiences and project activties. Remember that blogs are public writing and shared with the class — so express yourself with care as you would while speaking out loud to the whole class. For the first journal (J1) I would like you to reflect on learning English in Puerto Rico. You can think about your own personal experiences (good and/or bad) — or you can reflect on learning in English in Puerto Rico in general. The goal is to get you thinking and writing about this topic to help generate questions for your research project.
Good luck!
